General Sales Manager – Bridgwater, Somerset Full Time

Our client, a modern and forward thinking dealership in Bridgwater, Somerset – voted one of the best places to work at in 2017, is currently looking for an exceptional candidate for their General Sales Manager position. This is a very rare opportunity and would require an experienced individual with a high level of energy, enthusiasm, drive and determination. You will be reporting to the Dealer Principal.


About the role

You will be required to manage all vehicle sales processes within the dealership (1.5m of stock a month). You will be accountable for achieving vehicle sales, finance sales, accessory sales volumes and profit objectives through motivating and developing the sales team and ensuring that each customer receives excellent customer service.


As a General Sales Manager, your Key Objectives will be:
  • Maintain standards of performance of the sales team through effective coaching and performance management
  • Recruit and select the sales team members in line with organisational and brand requirements
  • To manage the mix and specification of new products based on sales trends, local market intelligence and the allocation and production constraints
  • Manage the supply of used vehicles
  • Maintain high customer satisfaction levels through the understanding and adherence to customer satisfaction indicators within the brand
  • Implement and develop customer follow up systems and procedures to increase customer loyalty
  • Maximise commercial opportunities through developing and implementing effective and consistent events and campaigns
  • Monitor and evaluate customer needs and competitor activity in the local market, ensuring that campaigns are relevant and targeted
  • Liaise with other departments to maintain the accuracy of the customer database
  • Regularly communicate and interact with members of other departments to develop the business and dealer team ethos
  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment; ensuring staff comply with Health and Safety requirements

About the ideal candidate for the General Sales Manager role

Requirements:
  • Significant automotive/ motor trade experience in a similar role
  • Drive, motivation, ambition to achieve and exceed the targets
  • Hands on approach
  • Used car and van demon
  • Ability to manage and coach large team (12-13 Sales Execs and 2 Transaction Managers)
  • Balls of steel required -not for the faint hearted!
